Manova Produces Diiche Opening Title Sequence

Before a television series tells its first story, its opening title sequence has the opportunity to introduce the world, establish the mood and prepare the audience for what is coming.

For Diiche, one of Showmax’s standout Nigerian original series, ManovaNG was responsible for the creative direction, art direction and production of the opening title sequence.

The sequence was directed by ManovaNG’s resident Chief Creative Officer, Adebeshin Samuel Bukola, who led the process of developing a visual introduction that complemented the mystery, cultural tension and psychological depth of the series.

Introducing the World of Diiche

Diiche is a six part psychological thriller centred on an A list actress who becomes the prime suspect in the murder of her fiancé. As she attempts to prove her innocence, secrets connected to her family and events from almost 30 years earlier begin to reveal a deeper struggle between fate, culture, good and evil.

The series premiered on Showmax on September 29, 2022, as the platform’s first Nigerian original limited series. It was produced by Feemo Vision Limited and executive produced and directed by James Omokwe, alongside directors Tolu Ajayi, Fiyin Gambo and Ifeoma Chukwuogo. included Uzoamaka Onuoha in the title role, alongside Daniel K Daniel, Efa Iwara, Uzoamaka Aniunoh, Frank Konwea, Kalu Ikeagwu, Chinyere Wilfred and Gloria Anozie Young. ing an Opening Title Sequence That Builds Suspense

An opening title sequence is more than a collection of names and moving images. It is an important part of the storytelling experience.

For Diiche, the opening sequence needed to reflect the uncertainty at the centre of the show without revealing too much about the story. It had to introduce an atmosphere of tension, suspicion and hidden history while remaining visually connected to the show’s Nigerian identity.

ManovaNG approached the project by considering the emotions audiences needed to experience before each episode began.

The creative direction focused on building anticipation and establishing the dark, mysterious tone of the series. Every visual decision was developed to support the psychological nature of the story and the questions surrounding Diiche’s past.

Art Direction and Creative Production

ManovaNG provided the art direction required to translate the themes of the series into a clear visual language.

This process included developing the overall creative concept, determining the visual mood, guiding the use of imagery and coordinating the production of the final opening title sequence.

The objective was to create a sequence that felt like part of the story rather than an element placed before it.

Under the direction of Adebeshin Samuel Bukola, the team developed and produced an opening sequence that introduced the show’s key creative themes while creating a distinctive identity for the series.

The result was an opening that prepared audiences for a story filled with murder, family secrets, cultural beliefs, psychological conflict and unexpected revelations.
